Right now I am trying to get some baby things finished up for both my sister and my sister in law (both are due next month).
I am also trying to get a sweater done for my daughter that is turning 3 this month.
and I am getting ready for the Hand-Dye Project we have going on here.

I am hunting for the perfect yarn to make this hat out of: www.loomknitterscircle.com/patterns/HourglassHat.htmlI am on the hunt for a super bulky yarn that is not wool or any other "fancy type" I need either cotton or acrylic. I am trying to come up with some T-shirt yarn to make it from!

My current plan is to try to make some "t-shirt" or "taffy" yarn. And then dye it with a tye die kit. I have to use a super bulky yarn and most of those are made of blends of wool, with alpaca, angora, and other critters I tend towards being allergic to. So I saw t-shirt yarn on etsy.com and thought I can do that! I'm thinking nice soothing blue would be nice and go with most of my wardrobe.

Still need to look up taffy yarn. I looked on etsy.com for the t-shirt yarn....very interesting. Tho I wonder if it will be too bulky to knit up the hat, or take a ton of t-shirts. Eliea, do you know how to make the t-shirt yarn yet? 1 place on etsy said to cut the shirt in 1 continuous strip...hmmm. I bet it would feel very very comfy tho. Keep me posted, Im very interested. Thanks

I asked on my craft forum in the spinners area. They suggested cutting the shirt into 1/2 inch strips to start since it will sort of roll on itself. I also plan to twist it with my drop spindle. that should bring the finished yarn to 1/4 inch which will make it super bulky. Perfect for the project! I'm going to experiment with it this week and will let you know how it goes. I can't make a tut anymore since my camera has died.

Eliea, thats a nice pattern there, will have to look up taffy yarn, never heard of it but the t shirt yarns I have, from what I hear they tend to also be a very soft texture next to your skin. I just finished up to purses for my little neices, with fur yarn and beaded ribbon, will be glad to post photos when I am able. Lori

At the moment I am working on a hat with a floppy picot edge on the long green loom using the loom clips.. I am also knitting the christmas doll from the loom knitters circle magazine, here is the link if you are interested in having a look.. www.loomknitterscircle.com/patterns/ChristmasDoll.htmlI have completed the knitted body, crotcheted hair and felt face of 1, so while I am figuring out how to make the clothes (I can't sew at all) I am knitting another one... I always have a scarf on the go, the latest one is on the large end of the pink spool loom, long and thin with pom-poms on the end..

I am currently working on an afghan/blanket for my nephews, I have, one 7 and the other 9, they picked their colors and now I have started the first one. I looked at so many patters, bought books, searched and searched and found one that looked simple, and when I read the directions it was like in another language... so I am joining groups and boards and whatnot for help, guidance and sanity to keep me going through the project.
I am still early in it, could frog it but not sure. I am ewrapping the whole thing and then going to crochet around it. The gauge of the long loom I am using is large and I don't like the back side (wrong side) as it looks like it will pick really easy. I will probably finish this (in several years it feels like) and will start the other one in a different way... not sure yet but has to be a nice flat panel stitch.
I am still learning every time I use my loom and love to hear what everyone else is working on.
Thank you for the board and I look forward to what everyone else is working on....

Hi Nelle, nice to meet you. Feel free to pick our brains with any questions you may have. Not sure if you can add a profile picture or not but I know you can for your avatar. You will have to upload a pic to PhotoBucket and then use the direct link and post that in the change avatar area of your profile.
